Overall Responsibilities:
The Retail Associate is responsible to the store front manager for overall support in the day-to-day operations of Greener Village’s Unique Boutique.
General day to day responsibilities and duties:
These duties include but are not limited to the following:
· To ensure that customers entering the Boutique are made to feel welcome.
· To ensure that questions on Greener Village’s origins, the boutique and the variety of goods available can be answered.
· If required, from initial conversation, to assist in locating specific items based on the customer’s stated needs.
· To offer assistance to customers for “best buy” clothing options based on knowledge of clothing brand names, sizing and item quality.
· To ensure with assistance from the Store Front Manager that self, any other staff members and any volunteers working in the boutique have signed off on, understand and are following all Health and Safety policies and procedures and that policies are readily available for all to read.
· To ensure that all volunteers read, are conversant with and adhere to the volunteer handbook guidelines.
· To assist with and make suggestions for promotions, sales and boutique special days.
· To discuss with the Store Front Manager and be aware of the pricing and ticketing procedures of items for sale and to merchandise appropriately.
· When required, to open and close the Boutique. When closing, to ensure the security of the boutique and adjoining offices.
· To maintain clothing racks, shelving, counters, tables and customer change room in a clean, neat and orderly manner.
· To assist in the weekly / monthly inventory of all boutique items and to refill / restock items as required.
· To open and close POS (Point of Sales) cash register(s). To be trained and become fully conversant with their operation and the counting of cash sales, the separation of coupons, charge slips and any vouchers and the daily balancing of sales to register readings.
· Online community engagement.
· To recognize any security and theft risks and how to prevent them
· Ensuring that any incidents (safety and workplace injuries) are reported to the Boutique Manager in a timely manner and that the incident is documented for possible follow up.
· Attend regular meetings and any scheduled training sessions with staff and volunteers,
· To perform other duties as directed by the Boutique Manager or designate. To be responsible for Boutique staffing schedule and to ensure that sufficient staff are on duty to fulfil their daily individual responsibilities.
· To ensure that procedures for the opening and closing of the Boutique by others are followed and to ensure that upon closing, areas of responsibility are properly secured.
· To be responsible for the security of all revenue sources (cash, credit, or debit transactions, charge slips and vouchers) and to ensure that all Boutique staff members are fully aware of the procedures for ringing off register(s), balancing sales to register receipts and for the securing of all sales at end of shift prior to closing periods.
· To be responsible for the maintenance of daily sales records and, on a weekly basis, pass on and discuss results with the SMoSE or designate.
· To ensure, with assistance from the Boutique staff that self, any other staff members and any volunteers working in the Boutique have signed off on, understand and are following all Health and Safety policies and procedures and that policies are readily available for all to read.
· To train, advise and mentor the Boutique Staff and volunteers in general retail operations in order to enhance their skills and to promote the Boutique. These include, the operation of the POS system, the marketing and placement of goods for sale, the planning of regular “specials and special sales days”, the pricing and ticketing of items, customer relations and service and general retail operation procedures.
· To develop, with others, the development of plans to enhance and expand the Boutique’s present and future operations.
· To ensure that questions on Greener Village’s origins, the Boutique and the variety of goods available can be answered.
· If required, to assist in locating specific items based on the customer’s stated needs.
· To offer assistance to customers for “best buy” clothing options based on knowledge and experience of clothing brand names, sizing and item quality.
· To ensure that all volunteers read, are conversant with and adhere to the volunteer handbook guidelines.
· To assist with, make suggestions and develop plans for promotions, sales and Boutique special days.
· To discuss with the Boutique staff the pricing and ticketing of items for sale and, with others, to place them attractively for sale with other like items.
· To discuss and pass on to those responsible for posting, suggestions for social media postings to promote the Boutique, hours of operations or “specials” etc.
· To maintain, with others, clothing racks, shelving, counters, tables, donation areas and customer change room in a clean, neat and orderly manner.
· To direct and assist in the weekly / monthly inventory of all Boutique items and to refill / restock items as required.
· To recognize, with training, any security and theft risks and how to prevent them.
· To Ensure that any incidents (safety incidents, workplace injuries and any customer incidents) are reported to the C.E.O. in a timely manner and that the incident is documented for possible follow up.
· To attend regular meetings and any scheduled training sessions with staff and volunteers.
· To assist, with others, the preparation of annual Boutique budgets.
· To perform other duties as directed by the C.E.O. or designate.
