This job was created to fill a current job vacancy. As an Assistant shop worker, you will need to work as part of a team - closely with your co-workers and line Manger

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Serve customers & help them find products they are looking for in the shop
  • Give information about the features, quality and availability of different products
  • When necessary, be able to give in-depth technical advice about products.
  • Arrange orders and deliveries of stock for customers.
  • Chase up order(s) and contact customers if order is in or if there is a delay.
  • Check order with customer, to ensure there are no damages before order leaves the store
  • Make the customer aware of any special offers.
  • Make sure that all stock is on display.
  • Be aware of what all the customers in the shop are doing, to guard against shoplifting
  • Operate paint mixer machine (when required)
  • Make sure that showroom and work areas are kept tidy
  • Assist in other section(s) of the shop, when required (i.e., paint, plumbing, warehouse delivers, Tile shop etc.)

Key skills and qualities include:

  • Good teamwork.
  • Flexibility to do different tasks.
  • Ability to be friendly and polite, even when tired, or under pressure.
  • Confidence in giving advice and information.
  • Having enough stamina to keep going.
  • You should be able to show a good degree of numeracy and literacy,
  • The ability to work with initiative
  • Excellent communication skills: clear, effective in spoken communication, face to face and on the telephone.
  • A good working knowledge of working in: Paint, Bathroom, Tile and Plumbing store.

Pension: The Company operate a pension scheme

Hours: 9 hours a day with a 45minutes for lunch and 15minutes tea break

Days of the week: Monday to Saturday – with a day off during the week

Paid leave (full-time): 28 working days annual leave including Public Holidays.

Start time: 9am-6pm

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £18,699.00-£29,419.00 per year
