What you will be doing: Working as an Associate in the Retail Banking Directorate, you will be at the heart of overseeing firms and individuals in the retail banking and mortgages sector. The Directorate’s remit is exciting and wide ranging. It is responsible for supervising the largest and most complex retail banking groups, digital and foreign banks as well as mortgage lenders in the UK. The teams across the Directorate work collaboratively on policy and projects, including sector wide cross cutting themes such as the Cost-of-Living Crisis, Consumer Duty, Access to Cash, Savings Market Review, the Provision of Banking Services and more. Using your judgement and curiosity on a daily basis, you will be:
- Analysing firms’ business models and strategies and identifying the key risks of harm
- Supporting the development, implementation and oversight of effective, assertive supervisory strategies to address key risks of harm
- Using data to identify trends, identify outliers and provide insights to support the Directorate’s work
- Forming sound judgement on a variety of regulatory topics
- Working collaboratively and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Effectively supporting projects
- Supporting the development and delivery on supervisory strategies for new regulatory powers linked to Access to Cash
- Contributing to the wider Directorate, including making recommendations for continuous improvement of our processes

The skills and experience you’ll have
Minimum
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience of analysing qualitative and quantitative information
- Proven experience of managing internal and external stakeholders
