Our retail operations across Salford and Manchester provides food, clothing, furniture, and support, offering welcome, hope and possibility.
Role Purpose

Mustard Tree has grown significantly over the past few years. We are looking for a driven, organised, passionate, skilled, kind, and ambitious person to help support the Branch team leader to develop and deliver our best-in-class retail operations. The role involves working with a wide range of people from customers to volunteers, and in different areas such as stock rotation and handling cash.
What you'll be doing: Job Description
· Supporting the day-to-day management of the retail shop assisting the Branch Team Leader to manage onsite volunteers and deliver excellent customer service.
· Sort and process all donations including controlled pricing of items for sale.
· Handling cash and performing bank runs, including using the till, cashing up, monitoring and reporting discrepancies
· Ensure the shop is fully stocked and maintain merchandised shop displays adhering to trading standards, health and safety regulations and Mustard Trees policies and procedures.
· Identify and promote opportunities within the store that involve our volunteers, give coaching and work through freedom training packs.
· Work alongside the Freedom Project Team to co-ordinate the daily activity of volunteers,
· Support volunteers to develop ‘work ready’ skills and behaviours i.e. confidence, punctuality, time management, communication, teamwork and initiative
· Promote and maintain the general welfare and morale of volunteers, escalating any safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Lead
· Supporting the Induction and Graduation events of volunteers, including providing informed and helpful feedback
· Complete basic registrations of new clients
· Maintain and develop a positive customer experience, ensuring all personnel maintain a high standard of customer care.
· Work closely with the warehouse and logistics manager, to ensure efficient and supportive practices and adequate stock levels are maintained.
· Supporting other staff and departments as required and providing relief cover for other hubs, being flexible working across all sites when needed and being able to support your colleagues providing cover for annual leave, sickness as required.
· Take responsibility for personal and professional development, attending training courses where appropriate.
· Other tasks and duties relevant to the role as required by the organisation.

Essential / Desirable
1 year minimum experience in retail operations - Essential
Experience in handling cash and customer service - Essential
Experience of working with and/or supporting volunteers - Desirable
GCSEs or equivalent academic level preferably including English and Maths - Desirable
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships - Essential
Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Essential
Good verbal and written communication skills - Essential
Flexible and can-do attitude - encouraging others to work to our vision and values - Essential
Working knowledge of health and safety regulations - Desirable
Effective time management and organisation skills - Essential
Full Clean UK driving licence held for over 2 years - Desirable

Salary: £14,200.00 per year
