Job description
Retail service assistants are required to be flexible according to business requirements. The focus of each job may vary however, it is expected that activities will typically include but is not limited to the following:
Hourly Rate £10.67
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service to visitors to The Alnwick Garden
Answer retail queries both in person and over the phone, selling and promoting the goods available to visitors in the Gift Shop, by offering excellent customer service
Replenish the shop floor stock; this includes carrying or lifting stock from the store to the shop.
Operate our till system in accordance with the Alnwick Garden’s financial procedures.
Process new deliveries, unloading, unpacking and checking stock against delivery notes.
Restock goods and ensure appropriate displays of merchandise
Clean and keep tidy back of house areas
Report to line manager any feedback, complaints, suggestions, stock needs, breakages, faults or hazards identified during the course of the work
Undertake relevant training as required
Personal Specification
The successful applicant will have
1-2 years’ experience in a retail services environment desirable
Good level of written and spoken English
The ability to work well under supervision and follow instructions
Self motivation
Adaptability and flexibility

An excellent communicator with colleagues and customers

Basic numeracy; ability to calculate and check change, basic addition and subtraction
