We are seeking bright, enthusiastic people with a strong work ethic to be part of our Retail team and contribute to the generation of vital income to support the Museum.

Retail Assistants need to be passionate about working with the public and will be part of a team so require the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others. The retail operation is spread across multiple retail outlets, so an energetic, flexible and pro-active approach is necessary. The Museums are open seven days a week and the positions are based in Edinburgh.

Skills and Experience

• Able to communicate clearly and confidently with the public.
• Experience of working in a busy Retail, Hospitality or Customer Service environment.
• Excellent numeracy and experience of cash handling and till systems.
• Team player with proven experience of working well with others.
• Proactive approach in raising the quality of service to all customers and visitors.
• Ability to work under instruction whilst using own initiative when working across multiple locations (including the National War Museum within Edinburgh Castle).
• Available to work flexibly around variable shift patterns, the Museum operates 7 days a week.
• Consistently presents a professional, smart image, positive body language and enthusiastic attitude.
• Adaptable to the varied aspects of the role – customer service, stockroom, merchandising etc.
• Previous experience of working in Retail.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Salary: From £9.90 per hour
