Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks
Applications are invited for the positions of Shore Retail Assistant based at the Ardrossan Ferry Terminal Coffee Cabin.
Reporting to the Port Manager, you will need a flexible approach to your day-to-day responsibilities. Your duties will include:
- Attend to customer needs and be responsive to their requests
- Provide a catering and retail service to a standard that enables the company to achieve its customer and business objectives.
- Adhere to the retail operations procedures, maintaining stocking policies and merchandise layout plans.
- Adhere to the Company's cash control, stock control and security procedures.
- Understand and adhere to Food Hygiene practices and procedures, cleaning and maintaining the area involved to a high standard
- Any other duties required by the Port Manager
Skills and Experience
- Good understanding of the CalMac services
- You must be computer literate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- You must be customer focused, have a clear understanding of the customer interface, and have a proactive approach to customer care.
- You must be able to react to alterations to planned vessel operations, therefore they must be proactive and willing to take appropriate action to provide the required customer service ashore
- The successful candidate must be able to commute to Ardrossan Ferry Terminal on a daily basis
- You are expected to have a flexible approach to working, as shift and weekend work will be involved
- Ability to work with initiative as a self-starter, without supervision
- Willingness to be a team player in a dynamic, proactive, and fast-paced environment
- Previous customer service experience, including catering, would be advantageous.
- Able to liaise with other retail staff to ensure that there is a high level of proactive communication and coordination of activity
