About the Role
This is an unusual role. You'll be in charge of a team of several chefs and cooks, together with a number of baristas and kitchen assistants.
We cook everything from scratch using the best sesonal and environmentally sustainable ingredients we can get our hands on. We use local organic leaves in our salads, hand picked fresh crab in our sandwiches and beef from pasture fed Old Gloucester, Belted Galloway & Shorthorn cattle in our burgers. We're not fine dining, we don't even use plates, but we do aim to make the best possible products for the farm shop, the 'cafe' and the 'takeaway', as we can.
To make this happen with a consistantly excellent product, we're looking for a real 'Foodie', who can manage people and has a natural attention to detail. You don't need to be a brilliant chef but you do need to be a brilliant manager and real food enthusuiast who will make sure everything goes out of the kitchen having been made according to the 'signed off' recipe (to retain quality and margin), whilst keeping all of our customers happy, all of the time.
The role needs someone who can command respect from the team, someone who is assertive, someone who can always get the best out of every character in their Team by being fair and kind.
So, we are looking for an exceptional Manager to oversee the daily operations of our large purpose built kitchen which prepares all our savoury products, (from wild garlic pesto to Kentucky Fried Pheasant) which is sold from our Drivethrough, our coffee bar and on the retail shelves in our Farm Shop.
Your team will look to you for training, organisation and leadership. Your positive energy and willingness to help others will see your team succeed and make our Drive Through and Coffee Bar not only a Jolly Nice place to eat, but a Jolly Nice place to work.
Key Objectives:
Managing the overall operation by;
- Taking the lead and ensuring all work stations and team members are running as effectively and efficiently as possible
- Maintaining all kitchen equipment to the highest of standards
- Keeping the team informed and compliant with all Food Safety regulations and Health and Safety legislation
Increasing Sales and Profit by;
- Understanding and interpreting customer demand and trends to ensure we have maximum availability and minimum wastage
- Motivating and upskilling your team to increase average orders
Improving our customer's journey by;
- Ensuring every customer is delivered exceptional service by your team
- Confirming every order given to customers is accurately fulfilled and the quality meets our high standards within the target time.
Supporting the team by;
- Providing on the job training, feedback and ways to improve
- Overseeing and helping with service and ensuring they have everything they need to fulfil their roles successfully
The Ideal Candidate
- Has previous experience in a senior chef position
- Has successfully managed a team of varying abilities
- Is uncompromising when it comes to quality control
- Has a passion for hospitality, food, customer service and recognises the importance of giving great service
- Has an outgoing and engaging personality where customers and team satisfaction are the main motivation
- Always remains calm and level headed with their team in a time pressured environment
- Displays excellent communication skills, professionalism, adaptability, flexibility and confidence
- Has an eye for detail and strives for the highest of standards whilst working within a busy environment

Salary: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
