Job description
With our current GM deciding Cornwall was not the place for him to settle down, we’re looking for a talented number 2 to lead our experienced senior management team at our #Cornish #fivestar hotel with 88 rooms, 39 cottages, 4 restaurants, Spa & AquaClub.
We're Veryan & Richard, family directors of The Headland Cornwall, & we have a fabulous senior team (Joshua, Zoe, Gavin, Emma, Leigh, Lindsay Dee & Sean) who are looking for a superstar #ResortOperationsManager to lead the day to day #operations.
Reporting to Veryan, who also oversees HR & Sales, you will be responsible for the F&B, Kitchen, Spa and Room Ops. Finance & Facilities is overseen by Richard. The Directors are onsite daily & are fully involved with daily running of the business: they love the little details, the bigger picture stuff, & everything in between.
This is not a role for a big ego, or someone who thinks they are being brought in on a rescue mission. The business has had 43 years of successful #familyownership & with the established management team we're looking for someone to come & have #fun with us whilst we negotiate the challenging #seasonalbusinessenvironment in our 124 year old #iconicbuilding. We enjoy exploring how we can continue pushing towards being the best place in the #southwest for #luxuryhospitality.
We're looking for someone who is a brilliant #luxuryhotel no. 2, who is used to lots of stakeholders opinions being considered. Can solve problems whilst keeping the Family Directors & SMT involved, no lone rangers required. Doesn’t get phased by the sizeable business challenges that our operating environment likes to throw at us (let’s not talk about unexpected storms in August). Is a glass half full person, able to say hello and greet guests, club members, and the team with a big smile every day. Likes being out & about amongst their team, encouraging and offering guidance where needed. CCTV watching desk warriors tend to not fit in! Is fun - someone who believes in cracking open a bottle of champagne to celebrate good news, but brings a big chocolate cake for a tough commercial meeting when the numbers are not looking great. Truly believes in team spirit, and the power of a quiet cup of morale boosting tea with someone who is struggling. Has worked in independent hotels, and is used to the quirkiness of a non-corporate hotel world. Has worked in a 5 star hotel (yes, a 6 month stint as a junior footman years ago would count).
Things to know:
Its a #fulltime position, onsite; from experience we know that this is not a role suitable for weekly commuting from outside Cornwall. There are great benefits; swims, eats, spa treats & stayovers to name a few, and you'll get 33 days holiday inc of bank holidays.
Salary of £65k-£75k +10% KPI bonus. Relocation package available.
