Post Title: Residential Support Worker
Reports to: Team Leaders, Registered Manager
Job Purpose
1. To be a member of a team of professional staff caring for children and young people. To implement and contribute to the development of Care Plans for clients in the home, involving liaison with external agencies to assist and enhance the process.
2. To contribute to the provision of a secure, stable, supportive environment for young people which respects and promotes their health, culture, religion, race, identity and lifestyle.
3. To safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
4. To provide personal care and support to the children and young people.
5. To follow policies and procedures and ensure a safe, secure and healthy environment at all times.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. To work as a keyworker to children and young people ensuring all keyworker responsibilities are completed.
2. To develop a sound knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and provide services and support, both individually and/or in groups to facilitate implementation of Placement Plans, which are based around these.
3. To carry out personal care as required whilst maintaining privacy and dignity.
4. To participate in domestic duties as can be reasonably expected.
5. To maintain daily routines within the home which provides a framework for development of a positive culture of care.
6. Establishing and maintaining positive, caring relationships with children, young people, their families and other professionals.
7. Provide a safe, stable and supportive environment that caters for the cultural, physical and emotional needs of the children and young people.
8. Provide advice and support to children and young people regarding their social, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
9. Encouraging and assisting children and young people to be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives.
10. To create, maintain and review proper case records and plans as directed by the Registered Manager.
11. Plan and participate in various internal and external social and leisure activities.
12. Participate in writing care plans, guidelines and reports for the children and young people as requested by the Registered Manager.
13. To attend external meetings as requested by the Registered Manager.
14. Act as a positive role model for children, young people and other staff in the home.
15. To actively participate in staff meetings.
16. To actively participate in and make effective use of regular supervision from your supervisor/manager.
17. Protect the rights and promote the interests of the children and young people.
18. To take full part in duty rotas including weekends, sleep-ins and waking nights.
19. Draw the attention of the Manager/Team Leader on duty to any areas of concern.
20. To complete all on-line and mandatory training.
21. To mentor new members of staff as part of their induction.

£11.00 to £13.00 /hour
