40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary Range (FTE) £21,835 - £25,324 per annum subject to experience and qualifications

Once Qualified in L3 Health and Social Care there is a potential to earn up to £28,195 after further completion of relevant RMT courses and increased length of service

Sleep-ins paid at an extra £78.48 per night

(This equates to approximately £3,500 additional payment when working 1 sleep-in shift per week)

Applicants who apply for this role at the current time will receive a Welcome Bonus of £1500 (subject to Tax/NI) after successful completion of their 6 month probation period.

This role will also involve conveying students across locations so a driving license is required.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Ruskin Mill Trust, as part of the committed team that create a home for young adults with learning difficulties / ASD within a Residential Home. Hours are on a shift rota basis working predominantly afternoon /evenings and weekends.

Within this role, you may be required to provide personal care and work alongside young people with challenging behaviours. You will have responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safety, care, well-being, learning and development of the children to enable their growth in confidence and social and engage with their education.

This role can be both physically/emotionally demanding, and you must have the confidence and patience to deal/manage with the challenging behaviours that young people can present. However the role is also extremely rewarding and you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the young people in your care.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have experience of working as a support worker ideally within a residential setting and working with young people with SEN needs and challenging behaviours.
  • have a strong desire to support young people, with a patient, caring, compassionate and young adults centered approach.
  • have excellent observational skills, the ability to problem solve and think creatively to enable our young people to reimagine their potential
  • have excellent communication skills, as well as experience of report writing and record keeping
  • be able to demonstrate emotional intelligence and resilience along with the ability to react calmly and manage emotionally challenging situations and be a team player
  • be willing to provide personal care, therefore it would be beneficial to have experience of this
  • have experience with medication handling desirable but not essential
  • be able to work flexible hours as this role includes working daytime, weekends, evenings and sleepover shifts on a rota basis
  • have a full driving licence
  • a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or an equivalent would be desirable, but not essential, as Ruskin Mill Trust will financially support you to gain this qualification.
