Children's home Westover are looking Residential support workers that are enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our support team. In this role, you will support our young people and be responsible for providing compassionate care during your time with them.

Westover is a 5 bedded family home that is situated in the heart of the cosmopolitan and buzzing city of Southampton, with great links to amazing places such as the New Forest, the Isle of Wight and London. The home is situated in an area of the city where young people can have the best of both rural and urban worlds. We have worked with children and young people with Learning Disabilities, Attachment Disorder, Asperger syndrome and other associated autistic spectrum disorders as well as young people experiencing difficulties with mental health, troubled family relationships or conduct
Our homes are based across Southampton & New Forest, our specialist provisions are set in a calming, spacious sites, our services provide a therapeutic approach to teaching SEMH students.
Our services support young people from Primary years to post-16, so it comes to no surprise that positive relationships with staff and students is at the forefront of what we do. We provide education through a holistic, SEND friendly curriculum, incorporating therapy, social skills and an enrichment program into our everyday teaching.

Experience isn’t always essential but there are a few characteristics you will need to be successful in this role:
Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
Organisation – You’ll need to be confident and organised in updating care plans and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.
Attentive – No young person is the same so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
