We are seeking a new Residence Life Officer as part of the University’s welfare service for students. This full-time post, working Monday to Friday is a varied and rewarding role with lots of opportunity for networking, and being involved in support student welfare.
This full-time post is available on a permanent basis and with an immediate start. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
Summary of the role
We are seeking someone who possesses exceptional interpersonal skills with a resilient attitude, and a practical, solution-focused approach. You will have a good working knowledge of using digital platforms and experience of line managing staff. You will have a flexible approach to your work and have strong organisational skills. Under the guidance of the Res Life Manager, the post holder will work as a co-ordinator taking a key role developing the Residence Life service. This will include ensuring that students living in Halls of Residence have access to one- to one support, events and sessions, in order to adapt and thrive while living on campus. The Residence Life Officer will take a pro-active approach to ensuring that the service is appropriately resourced and works to meet annual key objectives.
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the operational development of the service, while also line managing an assistant co-ordinator and developing the line management of student mentors. The post holder will have experience of supporting students who experience welfare / wellbeing challenges, including rapid access to support. Experience of training, recruiting and retaining staff is beneficial alongside knowledge and management experience of community building and event planning.
