Job Introduction

We’re seeking someone who is an excellent communicator, organised and caring in nature to join us as a Resettlement Officer.

You’ll have experience supporting vulnerable people, practical knowledge of helping vulnerable service users access housing services, and in-depth knowledge of housing and welfare benefits system.

This role will focus on supporting guests and hosts under the Homes for Ukraine and Afghan Resettlement Scheme across Milton Keynes.

You will lead on preventing homelessness and build relationships within the sector to help support Ukrainian and Afghan Refugees.

We offer flexible working arrangements including homeworking with the requirement to come into our city centre offices once a week. We’ll provide you with a full suite of IT equipment to enable you to work effectively.

Role Responsibilities
  • We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Resettlement Officer to join our busy and newly formed team. You will work with colleagues in ensuring a first-class customer service is provided to customers approaching our service.
  • Provide an effective and efficient support service to the Refugee Resettlement Programme including offering office-based appointments, outreach support, provide drop-in sessions and home visits.
  • Liaison with private sector landlords to promote MKCC’s landlord incentive scheme.
  • Support refugees with information about refugee community organisations and agencies for longer term support.
  • Develop and build strong relationships with colleagues & partner agencies
Ideal Candidate
  • You will need experience of direct customer casework and the ability to advise vulnerable service users on a range of welfare, finance, health, housing, and immigration related issues.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Knowledge and understand of the difficulties faced by refugees.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with customers.
  • A valid UK drivers’ licence and access to own vehicle.
