Role
A full-time 12-month post is available to provide technical support to research projects investigating enzymes derived from plant natural product biosynthesis. These enzymes are being developed as biocatalysts for applications in production of cosmetics, consumer products and pharmaceuticals. The position is based in the laboratory of Dr Benjamin Lichman, a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow at the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products. The Lichman lab take a multidisciplinary approach to understand and engineer plant natural product biosynthesis. This post will provide technical support for projects in the lab, specifically those focused on catmint (Nepeta). The position will involve working closely with Dr Lichman, post-doctoral researchers and industrial collaborators. Applications are sought from individuals with experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, especially familiarity with recombinant protein production. Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- HNC, HND, Degree in biochemistry, chemical biology or molecular biology, or equivalent experience
- Experience in conducting scientific research
- Previous experience of recombinant protein purification and enzymology would be a significant advantage
- Excellent communication skills are essential
- You should have a commitment to personal development, a collaborative ethos and an enthusiasm for the subject
