Job description
Applications are invited for the Research Technician position to work with internationally recognised research group based at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN) at the University of Sheffield.
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join an exciting new project at the translational medicine interface in Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP). You will be a practically skilled, well organized, flexible and committed Postdoctoral Researcher who will join the team led by Prof Mimoun Azzouz.
The aim of your project is to generate an adeno-associated vector (AAV) based gene therapeutic approaches for spastic paraplegia type 47 (SPG47). You will conduct laboratory research on a semi-independent basis under the direction of the principal investigator. You will be expected to: design, execute and evaluate experiments; keep excellent experimental records; prepare reports regularly and feed back to the investigators. You are also expected to contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, attend and deliver seminars and support undergraduate students and postdocs.
You will have a strong in vivo pre-clinical experience. Expertise in molecular, cellular biology and gene therapy will be advantageous. The successful candidate should be strongly motivated, self-driven, able to accept direction and be an excellent team player. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are expected.
