We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with a background in molecular biology and interest in obesity, diabetes, and metabolism to join Dr Ahmad Al-Mrabeh’s Lab within the Metabolism, Diabetes and Obesity Theme at the Centre for Cardiovascular Science (CVS), Queen's Medical Research Institute, University of Edinburgh.
The Opportunity:
This new position is part of the MRC Career Development Award to Dr A Al-Mrabeh to study pancreas lipotoxicity in type 2 diabetes (T2D) and to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which weight loss induces remission of diabetes. This is a multidisciplinary research programme involving human, mouse, and ex vivo studies. You will provide daily technical support to the research team and conduct various research tasks as instructed by the Principal Investigator to ensure optimal delivery of the research programme.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Basic laboratory skills and evidence of undertaking similar roles in other research labs.
- Rigorous scientific approach with ability to work independently or as part of the team.
- Prior experience in analysing, presenting, and reporting scientific data.
- High level of enthusiasm and motivation to learn and acquire new skills.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations & procedures.
