Job description
The Research Technician will support a wide range of research activities in the group and contribute to specific ongoing research projects, support and manage our infection biology related activities including animal models of infection, and take on overall day-to-day management of the laboratory. This will involve independently performing grant-driven experiments, contributing to experimental design, consultation with other researchers, data analysis, presentation, and reporting. The post also involves training, advisory and supervisory roles with respect to ensuring there is a sound scientific knowledge base available within the group and there is compliance with University procedures and regulations, particularly Health and Safety legislation. Lab management duties will include maintenance, advice and induction with regard to the procurement and use of equipment and general laboratory organisation. The post holder will need to liaise with others to ensure they have a clear understanding of the needs of the School, Faculty and University in order to achieve their goals..
Applicants will preferably be a current or prior holder of a Home Office Personal Licence for performing regulated procedures and have experience of working with murine, and/or ex vivo and/or in vitro models of disease.
Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party.
