Job description
Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £24,496 to £26,845 per annum (Grade F) | Norwich
If you enjoy studying old and new maps, research work, problem solving and have worked on a GIS mapping system, this could be the job for you.
You will be part of the busy Development and Operations section within the Highways and Development Group, undertaking work in the Highway Research Team.
Previous experience in researching would be an advantage as a large part of the role is investigating the position of the boundary line that divides public highway from private land.
The post-holder will search through highway files, legal records (deeds of conveyance and dedication, road adoption records etc.), interpret air photos, study maps and engineering plans in order to form an evidence-based view on the position of the highway boundary line.
The workload is high and constant with enquiries coming from a wide range of companies, organisations as well as the public. After training, you will be communicating complex results to people with varying levels of understanding and knowledge of the subject.
A questioning attitude and problem solving skills are very desirable.
You must be enthusiastic and be able to demonstrate success as a team player. A flexible and adaptable attitude is necessary as well as a willingness to constantly develop your knowledge.
