Job Summary
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Research Technician to join our Team in Cambridge, on a full-time, permanent basis. You will join a Team, that is providing support to UK Imaging Hub.
You will work five days a week - Monday to Friday, core hours. You will be based in Cambridge, Granta Park.
What we’re looking for?
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years sectioning experience with a variety of clinical tissue types in a high throughput pathology laboratory; Background in the pharmaceutical industry and the drug development process; Experience with slide scanning and image analysis; Good knowledge of cryotomy and Awareness of UK Human Tissue Act; Computer literate: articulate, confident and competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with experience of using databases and presenting data using standard techniques e.g. spreadsheets, computerised reports etc.
- Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred
How you will thrive and create an impact ?
- Responsibility for digital pathology slide scanning (using Leica Aperio slide scanners) and delivery of high quality image data to scientists
- Managing digital pathology image transfer & ingestion process from external laboratory to internal Imaging Platform (AWS)
- Undertaking quality control assessments of image and metadata using automated image QC analysis algorithms using HALO image analysis platform
- Tissue sample accessioning, fixation, processing and embedding tasks
- Takes responsibility for delegated laboratory maintenance including ordering of reagents & consumable, histological slide filing, maintenance of routine pathology equipment
