An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Research Support Worker to join the Centre of Medical Imaging (CMI) Research Team. Are you dynamic, patient centred and looking for an exciting challenge? Why not consider joining our team at UCLH.
To support the Centre for Imaging (CMI) research team with study administration to ensure the efficient and successful delivery of Imaging trials and other studies according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures (SOPs), trust policies and all applicable regulations and governance. The Research Support Worker is a member of the CMI team, responsible for providing efficient and effective day to day administrative service including supporting the research practitioners.
The post holder plays a key role in supporting the trial team in administrative tasks and is a key point of contact for hospitals participating in our trials. The post holder will also assist in developing standard practices within CMI and in problem-solving.
Responsibilities include creation and maintenance of databases for imaging trials, completion of case report forms and the creation and maintenance of a database of trial activity. They will have the ability to work without supervision in some areas, e.g. dealing with telephone and personal enquires from staff, patients and carers, answering queries where possible and ensuring appropriate personnel are informed for further action to be taken.
The team supports both - current and new research and ensures that trials are conducted to the highest standards and in accordance with UK legislation and the R&D Governance Framework. The aim of the CMI group is to effectively manage resources to ensure that patients have access to entry into clinical trials, as appropriate, and maintain the highest quality of care for patients. This is a key appointment within the team; a strong desire to promote a supportive and empathetic approach as well as assisting investigators with trial set up and on-going accrual is essential.

The department is currently based at UCLH and has office space in 250 Euston Road as well as the space in Charles Bell House (UCL).

The hospital also benefits from close ties to University College London. The university campus has the greatest concentration of medical research in Europe, with the MRC clinical trials unit and the Welcome Trust just around the corner on Euston Road. Currently, UCLH patients and staff are participating in over 150 clinical trials.
UCLH works closely with the CRN North Thames Clinical Research Network, is part of the Network is part of the National Institute of Health Research Comprehensive Clinical Research Network (NIHR CCRN), which was established in April 2006 by the Department of Health with aims to improve the speed, quality, and integration of research, ultimately resulting in improved patient care.
