Research Statistician
Responsibilities:

RTI Health Solutions is seeking a dynamic and talented candidate to launch their career within our European-based Health Economics team. RTI Health Solutions is a business unit of RTI International, an independent nonprofit research Institute, dedicated to improving the human condition.


RTI Health Solutions business unit provides consultancy and research services to pharmaceutical and other healthcare industry clients. As a Research Statistician you will work within an experienced team in a friendly and collaborative environment. As part of our team, you will perform leading-edge analytical research to evaluate the clinical, humanistic, and/or economic value of new medicines and other healthcare products. Our research is used by Health Technology Assessment authorities worldwide to inform their decisions about the availability, pricing, and reimbursement of new healthcare interventions. This role is office-based in Manchester, UK or alternatively flexible or remote working options may be available


Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance and direction of senior team members:
    • Develop statistical analysis plans, analysis datasets, perform analyses, and develop reports related to performing analysis, which may include but not be limited to meta-analyses and network-meta-analysis, survival analyses, utility analyses
    • Implement and deliver high-quality scientific projects to agreed timelines and budgets
    • Develop abstracts, posters, and manuscripts through involvement with composing, writing, and reviewing content, and begin to build a scientific stature
    • Develop proposals to conduct the work required by our clients that showcase RTI-HS’ excellence and expertise
  • Learn new methods, develop statistical programs and perform analyses in R, WinBugs/OpenBugs/JAGs, and SAS/STATA
  • Work effectively as a member of a cross-functional team, liaising with other technical staff including health economists, statisticians and systematic literature review experts
  • Contribute actively to an exciting and growing team that is applying the latest methodological advances to a variety of statistical challenges to meet our customers’ needs
  • Communicate effectively (via email, telephone, and in-person) with clients and team members regarding projects and proposals
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Required

  • An undergraduate or advanced degree in mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, or a related field
  • Coursework or experience in performing statistical analysis
  • Programming experience with R or similar software
  • Demonstrated skills for reading, writing, and evaluating research findings
  • High level of attention to detail, organisational skills and accuracy; ability to multi-task and prioritise work and be flexible depending on client deadlines
  • Enthusiasm, commitment, and ability, to produce consistently high-quality work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)


Desirable

  • Coursework or experience in one or more of the following is preferred: meta-analyses, survival analyses, retrospective data analyses, analysis of clinical trial data, and/or utility assessment analyses
  • Experience with and additional statistical packages such as SAS or STATA, and/or WinBUGS
  • Knowledge of Bayesian statistics
