Job Description Summary

The Amatullah Lab in the Department of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics is seeking to hire a Research Specialist to join a new lab exploring chromatin regulators and gene-environment interactions in chronic immune disease. The primary role of this position is to work with the principal investigator to assist with lab responsibilities and conducts basic molecular biology experiments to meet research project objectives. Applicants should have a biology or life sciences educational background, prior experience working in laboratories is preferred but not required. Duties and responsibilities will change and expand as the candidate gains experience and independence. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is looking to gain laboratory research experience and/or pursue future graduate training, a well-organized individual who is eager to learn various research techniques..

Job Description

Job Duties:

Assist with laboratory organization (inventory, ordering, reagents)
Perform basic molecular biology techniques (Protein, RNA or DNA isolation followed by qPCRs and Western Blots)
Perform in vitro cell culture (isolating primary cells and maintaining cell lines)
Assist with mouse colony; breeding, weaning, genotyping
Maintain a detailed lab notebook, participate in discussions about experimental data

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience working in a lab is preferred.

This position is contingent upon grant funding.
