A spin-out from the University of Oxford, Alethiomics was co-founded in 2021 by Prof. Adam Mead and Prof Bethan Psaila, both academic clinicians and expert haematologists. Job description
We are looking for an drug discovery scientist to develop our portfolio of antibody therapeutics into novel drug candidates for further clinical development. The successful candidate will be responsible for model and assay development to support target validation and lead candidate characterization. This post is an ideal position for an individual looking to expand their experience in drug discovery.
Required education & experience
- Degree qualification in a relevant field e.g. Immunology. Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology
- PhD degree or Masters degree plus 2+ years experience in a research laboratory setting
- Ability to interpret scientific reports and implement learnings accurately to develop complex experimental wet lab protocols,
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative and presentation skills.
- Experience in cell culture and in vitro assay development, plus one or more of the following:
Flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry/automated imaging, genomic profiling (e.g. qPCR, RNA-seq or single cell RNA-seq), antibody or small molecule drug discovery, cancer cell biology, organoid or primary cell co-culture models
Main areas of responsibility
- Development of robust functional and viability assays for screening therapeutics and for understanding mechanism of action
- Utilizing relevant techniques such as flow cytometry, qPCR immunocytochemistry/automated imaging to assess markers of disease
- Development of patient derived cell models that replicate the microenvironment of cancers including organotypic culture systems
- Genetic modification of cells to affect expression of candidate targets
- Documentation of work in plans and reports
Areas of support
- Genomic profiling of primary cell models, including at the single cell level, for the evaluation of pharmacology of drug candidates
