Job description
We are looking to appoint a research scientist to carry out research in machine learning and neural network methods specialised on medical data, reporting to Dr Andrey Kormilitzin and Professor Alejo Nevado-Holgado. You will be joining a friendly and dynamic group of researchers who come from multiple disciplines such as computer science, mathematics, biology and medicine and you will be encouraged to interact widely with this group, and with further renowned scientists across psychiatry, the big data institute, the drug discovery institute, and the wider University. The post is based at the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
The post is for a fixed term (funded to 31 March 2024in the first instance).
You will work on a specific project where neural networks are applied to genomics, fluorescent microscopy and proteomics for cell profiling. The project is ongoing, and you will need to use the code and tools that have already been developed by the team for this purpose. These include the use of Tensorflow, Pytorch and Python and you will be expected to organise individually developed software into a Python package.
You will have a MSc or equivalent in mathematics, machine learning and biomedical image analysis, with a proven background/experience of using modern Python, PyTorch, and Tensorflow for scientific research. Experience with Stable Diffusion models would be desirable as would a track record of research in stochastic analysis, and neural differential equations.
You will be required to upload a supporting statement, a CV, and details of two referees as part of your online application.
The closing date for this post is 28th July 2023.
