- Develop new products and develop mechanistic expertise in slurry formulation
- Build an understanding of structure-activity relationships around particle, polymer, and small molecule slurry components
- Apply lab-based methods to screen additives, probe mechanism of action, and ensure product robustness using your expertise and statistically robust experimental designs
- Design and execute experiments with engineering team to verify slurry performance on test customer device wafers
- Analyze outcomes of experiments using advanced statistical tools and be able to use those results to logically plan future experiments
- Create technical presentations to be shared within R&D, internal stakeholders, and customers
- Collaborate in a diverse team that includes engineers, customers representatives, chemists, quality specialists, and production engineers
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry
- Experience working with polymers, surfactants, or particles within a laboratory environment
- Demonstrated independence in successfully completing projects, either individually or within collaborations or research groups
- Proven experience in planning, executing, and documenting a set of activities or tasks in a timely manner
- Demonstrated effective communication, both written and verbally, within core research group and to an outside audience
- Participation in safety initiatives and a strong dedication to a safety-first culture
- Critical to job: Understanding of basic structure-activity relationships of chemical additives (small molecules, polymer, and surfactants) including how chemical structure affects binding to films, particle surfaces, or other chemical additives in solution
- Bonus: Understand particle properties basics, including how shape, particle size distribution, composition, and surface chemistry & charge (including DLVO theory) can affect performance in solution.
- Strong ability to design, execute, and analyze experiments that elucidate key function, mechanisms, or properties of chemical additives
- Strong communication skills – able to easily communicate with peers, research associates, and non-technical collaborators both written and presentation
