Research Grants Co-ordinator (Fixed Term) Cambridge, East of England, England

University of Cambridge
Full Time Cambridge, East of England, England 28929 - 33348 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Joining the MRC Biostatistics Unit (BSU) at the University of Cambridge presents an excellent opportunity to become part of a small, friendly team dedicated to supporting the administration of research grants. Although prior experience in a financial setting would be advantageous, comprehensive training will be provided in this specialized field. We prioritize career development, and this position serves as an ideal introduction to grants management, offering potential for advancement within the University.

In this warm and inviting Unit, which places emphasis on excellence and well-being, working efficiently revolves around meeting deadlines and maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. You should possess prior experience in Finance or Accounts and exhibit a strong sense of professionalism. Furthermore, exceptional organizational, teamwork, and communication skills are essential. Familiarity with grant applications and University finance systems would also be beneficial.

In return, the BSU are offering:

  • A well-defined training and induction program designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge for success.
  • Weekly coffee mornings aimed at fostering networking opportunities, where you can meet important stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Regular meetings with your line manager and an annual development review to assist in your personal growth.
  • Provision of IT equipment and office furniture to facilitate hybrid working.
  • Access to University training courses to support your continuous learning and development.
  • A supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes collaboration and prioritizes well-being.
  • Additional excellent and competitive benefits for University of Cambridge staff can be found here: https://www.hr.admin.cam.ac.uk/pay-benefits/cambens-employee-benefits

The Unit is actively seeking to increase diversity among its staff, including promoting an equitable representation of men and women. The Unit therefore especially encourages applications from women, from minority ethnic groups and from those with non-standard career paths. Appointments will be made on merit. This is a full time or part time role (minimum 25.5 hours per week). We are happy to consider differing patterns for completing these hours across 4 or 5 days a week. We support hybrid working and so would not expect attendance in the office every working day, although a minimum of 2 days is essential.

The MRC Biostatistics Unit is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions. Our focus is to deliver new analytical and computational strategies based on sound statistical principles for the challenging tasks facing biomedicine and public health. The Unit is situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, one of the world's most vibrant centres of biomedical research, which includes the University of Cambridge's Clinical School, two major hospitals, the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, and the world headquarters of Astra Zeneca.
