About us
The UCL Centre for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) is UCL’s new institute for infrastructure and innovation in digital research - the supercomputers, datasets, software and people that make computational science and digital scholarship possible. We are an innovative hybrid: a professional services department that delivers reliable and secure infrastructure and services to UCL research groups, and a laboratory for research and innovation in the application of advanced computational and data intensive research methods, working in partnership with academics from all fields.
We are a home for the research technology professionals - research software engineers, HPC systems engineers, dev-ops specialists, data engineers, data scientists and data stewards - who support and collaborate in the delivery of UCL research, providing outstanding career development opportunities for these new kinds of research professionals.
About the role
This role is offered as a secondment for internal UCL applicants and FTC for externals until 31st May 2024
The Research Finance Administator is responsible for overseeing the Department’s research income portfolio, including submitting and preparing grant applications, ensuring grants are spent correctly and within a timely manner, and reporting to senior stakeholders both internally and externally to the Department.
The role holder will also be responsible for assisting with budget preparation, financal forecasting and preparing financal reports.
About you
We are looking for someone to join our new and expanding departement, working with colleagues from across UCL and the wider research community, to ensure financal support for cutting-edge research.
The Department has a well established track-record of supporting and winning research grants, and requires a finance adminstator to assist with managing new research grants, as well as capital and recurrent funding. This role would suit someone with experience of financial administration and a knowledge of accounting and financial procedures, particularly within a Higher Education setting. A relevant financial qualification or significant experience obtained in Higher Education would be essential for this role.
The role holder should also be able to demonstrate excellent computer literacy, including efficient use of Excel and budgetary and reporting software (i.e. Axiom, Worktribe).
