This role will give you the opportunity to work on a project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) which aims to develop a Roadmap for a National Training Centre on Multidimensional Digital Media in the Arts and Humanities.
This appointment is for a fixed term of 1-year, and you will be joining an exciting interdisciplinary team of digital and computing researchers with world-leading expertise in developing and embedding digital tools and interdisciplinary methods across the arts and humanities. This project aims to develop a roadmap for establishing a National Training Centre for upskilling the Arts and Humanities community in data management of multidimensional data, including 2D images, 3D models and 4D datasets generated through digitisation and creative processes.
You will contribute to the project outcomes, including mapping of user needs, an open hybrid training framework which is piloted through teaching and learning activities (e.g. summer school, industrial placements, data+art residencies), delivering specialised training, as well as evaluating its impact, and developing a roadmap for a National Training Centre in Multidimensional (2D/3D) Data Literacy Skill.
In order to be successful in this post, you should have:

  • A good (1 or 2:1) degree BSc/MSc in history, cultural heritage, cultural informatics, or related subjects.
  • Specialist knowledge in the creation, processing, management, use/reuse of multi-dimensional (2D/3D) data for the arts and humanities, demonstrated by projects involving 3D scanning, mesh processing, and using the data to enhance museum processes (e.g. exhibitions, websites for access).
  • Sufficient, up to date breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
  • In-dept knowledge of research methods and techniques, including quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as experience to work within established research projects and evidence of commitment to engage in continuous professional development.
