Our client is an innovative manufacturer of rapid testing solutions and diagnostic kits, catering to a multi-industry, global client base. They provide comprehensive services from initial concept through scale-up to high-volume manufacturing and offer expertise in lateral flow product research and development, regulatory support, and technical transfer. Since their establishment in 2008, they have successfully developed and manufactured various rapid tests in areas like COVID-19, Sexual Health, Fertility, Animal Health, and Plant Health.
To support their exciting growth phase, our client is seeking a talented R&D Scientist to join their team at the York laboratory and manufacturing facility.
Job Role
As a R&D Scientist and a valuable member of the team, you will be responsible for taking projects from feasibility to scale-up and manufacturing. The role requires familiarity with established and emerging technologies in the medical devices/diagnostic industry, particularly point-of-care testing, to ensure that the service provision is maintained at the highest possible standard.
- Assisting in the development of lateral flow assays for third parties and internal product development
- Contribute to project experimental work plans to deliver technical work on time
- Working with colleagues across R&D, Manufacturing, quality and regulatory to ensure projects achieve design review milestones on time and on budget
- Ensure work is completed to required health and safety standards including preparation of COSHH and Risk Assessments.
- Prepare and present data as and when required, analysis of results and generation of data using excel / other statistical packages.
- Prepare written SOP’s for laboratory methods, procedures and instrumentation
- Assist in the generation of marketing materials, specifically the technical content
- Understand the requirements for the project design history files (DHF) and actively work with the Project Manager to ensure the DHF technical requirements are appropriate for audit
- Review of other scientist / senior scientists experimental writes ups to achieve consistent quality and meet all QMS requirements
- Assume ownership for maintenance of equipment / processes as the department requires
- Ensuring that all relevant procedures are followed, and compliance is at least maintained in line with the current versions of ISO:9001 and ISO13485
- Participate in audits when required
- Participate in supplier meetings / discussions
Person Profile
We’re looking for a candidate with the following attributes;
- Relevant scientific degree
- Understanding of Immunoassays
- Experience of working in a regulated environment
- Strong data analysis skills
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Attention to detail
- Ability to travel in the UK and abroad
- Required to work to complete projects that may require out of hours working from time to time.
