Job description
The role
The University of Bristol has an outstanding record in the commercialisation of research, ranking in the top 5 in the UK by some measures (Beauhurst, 2022). In recent years two new regional industry clusters have formed around our spinouts in the life sciences and quantum technology. The University’s refreshed strategy sets out ambitions to build upon this success and increase our contribution to a dynamic and exciting innovation ecosystem.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our expanding team and to develop and manage a portfolio of commercialisation projects across Health and Life Sciences as a Research Commercialisation Manager.
What will you be doing?
You will be working on a range of exciting technologies across the health and life sciences and partnering these with existing companies or creating new spin-outs to help take Bristol’s research from the lab to market. You will do this by identifying and protecting intellectual property; evaluating commercial potential; devising development and commercialisation plans including providing commercial inputs to translational funding applications; marketing technologies; negotiating deal terms; and drafting contracts to drive the commercialisation of technologies via licensing or spin-out company creation.
This is an excellent opportunity to further your career within a strong team with an excellent reputation and a proven track record of success.
You should apply if
You have experience of commercialising early-stage health and life science technologies within a research commercial environment. You will be literate in a wide range of disciplines with the ability to critically examine complex research and assess optimum commercialisation strategies.
You will have a degree in a relevant subject and ideally a PhD or RTTP designation (Registered Technology Transfer Professional) or equivalent work experience. You will be a driven team player with developed interpersonal skills.
If you are passionate about realising impact arising from the cutting-edge research being undertaken by world leading scientists in one of UK’s most vibrant cities, then we’d be interested in hearing from you.
