Job description
Salary range : £36,024 - £44,263
FTE : 1.0 (35 hours/week)
Term : Fixed term (24 months)
Closing date : 10/10/2023
The Centre for Advanced Measurement Science and Health Translation is a newly formed inter-disciplinary research hub hosted within the Department of Pure & Applied Chemistry where the University is partnering with National Measurement Laboratory (NML@LGC) and NHS Lanarkshire to develop cutting edge research projects in the area of measurement science and healthcare technology. Through the University’s Tier 1 Membership of CAMS-UK, a funding package is available to support employment of a Research Associate for 24 months. The associate will work in the Centre and report to Professor Damion Corrigan.
Owing to the nature of the funding, the research goals of the project are relatively open and this means the Associate will have a certain degree of freedom to explore themes of their own choosing providing they meet the broad aim of advancing knowledge in the area of point of care testing and bioanalysis and fall within the expertise of the supervisors. The project will be supervised by Professor Damion Corrigan and Dr Binoy Paulose Nadappuram with the topics including: point of care sensors, novel surface functionalisation chemistries, dielectrophoresis, nanopipette fabrication and wearable devices. The candidate will benefit from working within the groups of the two researchers, from the Centre’s links to National Measurement Laboratory and NHS Lanarkshire and also from working within the newly formed Centre which currently plays host to a number of research scientists from industry. The candidate will also play a role in managing Professor Corrigan’s laboratory and assist him and Dr Paulose with the preparation of new funding bids. The investigators will also support the candidate’s professional growth through preparation of new scientific publications, training and mentorship opportunities and development of academic funding bids.
Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Damion Corrigan, Professor ([email protected]).
