Job description

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people, parents, school staff, researchers, art therapists and mental health professionals to develop a novel art-based intervention aimed at preventing anxiety and depression in UK secondary schools.

What will you be doing?

In this role you will assist with the delivery of the project alongside Dr Naomi Warne and her collaborators. Duties will include:

  • applying for ethical approval,
  • conducting one-to-one interviews and focus groups with young people, parents, school staff, art therapists and mental health professionals,
  • analysing interview and focus group transcripts using qualitative approaches,
  • reviewing the research literature and grey literature for research on the role of art in improving young people’s mental health,
  • applying Person-Based Approach methods relevant to intervention development,
  • contributing to dissemination of work through conferences, talks, reports and papers, and
  • engaging members of the public with the research via events, videos and podcasts.

You should apply if

  • You have an interest in youth mental health and how creativity can be used to prevent and support mental health problems
  • You can communicate well with people from a wide range backgrounds and ages
  • You have experience in qualitative or mixed methods research

Contract type:Open-ended with funding until 01/04/2026

Work pattern: Part time/ 0.5 FTE

Grade: I / 2 (a)

Salary: £35,333 - £39,745 per annum pro rata

School/Unit: Bristol Medical School

Shift pattern: 17.5h per week
