About us

BSH is dedicated to research on how human behaviour impacts health and health outcomes. Specifically, the position will be within Dr Daisy Fancourt’s Social Biobehavioural Research Group, which focuses on the impact of social factors on health. This includes social deficits (e.g. loneliness, isolation and COVID-19 lockdowns) and social assets (e.g. social connections, cultural and community engagement, nature engagement and social prescribing).

About the role

The post-holder will assist with the INSPYRE project by i) facilitating the completion of research tasks and ii) work remotely with young people on CAMHS waiting lists at sites to help them access social prescribing activities. Applicants are sought with previous experience working within young persons’ social prescribing. Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork, organisational skills, evaluation skills and knowledge of the social determinants of health are essential to this role. The salary is £34,502 - £36,348 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. The post is available for 15 months, in the first instance. Role specific details: An acceptable DBS check is required to carry out this role Visa Sponsorship. This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. About you

The Research Assistant/Social Prescriber will include (i) seeing young people on CAMHS waiting lists referred for social prescribing, consenting them to be involved in the research, undertaking consultations with the young people, referring them to services and activities relevant to their needs, and collecting data, (ii) liaising with CAMHS sites and community organisations to build and maintain relationships and ensure the smooth running of the project, (iii) supporting the operational aspects of INSPYRE trial including following study protocols and assisting with reporting requirements, and (iv) contributing to publications and other outputs for dissemination (such as infographics, podcasts and policy briefings) including opportunities for involvement in data analysis (if this is of interest to the candidate).
