We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual for the role of a Research Assistant to join our Ubiquitin Cancer Immunology research team within the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) Oxford Institute (COI) here at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be responsible for supporting the laboratory in the characterization of cancer immunomodulatory target genes by using different proteomics, lipidomics, biochemical, and immunological techniques. You will be performing experiments examining deubiquitylase (DUB) activity profiles using molecular active site probes and small molecule inhibitors. You will also perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations. You will be responsible for keeping detailed records of all activities and to consolidate data from various projects within the group, interpret the results and to present them to other team members, including external collaborators.
It is essential that you hold a degree in biology, immunology, biochemistry, chemistry, biotechnology or similar. You will have familiarity with biochemistry techniques (e.g. Immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, pull-down, in vitro enzymatic activity assays) and immunology techniques (e.g. FACS and ELISA). You will have experience in handling cells, tissue culture and gene knockout/knockdown and exposure to Chemical Biology, handling of small molecule inhibitors, peptides. You will also have the ability to communicate results clearly and effectively and to discuss scientific ideas both within the work environment.
