Job description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced research assistant to join our progressive and vibrant R&D team. This multi-faceted role requires an understanding of research delivery in a variety of contexts. The postholder will be involved in recruiting participants from existing clinical services and establishing relationships with new services/specialities as required. The role is both staff and patient/client facing and requires an aptitude for working with a range of people from different cultures, ages, diagnosed conditions and environments. Our current research portfolio is primarily mental health and dementia focussed but we are increasingly delivering research within our community physical health services.
NELFT is an innovative and dynamic organisation with an accomplished record of delivering research studies throughout the Trust. The Research and Development (R&D) team work collaboratively with both community and mental health services, to deliver over 40 NIHR portfolio studies, recruiting in excess of 1600 people a year. NELFT is able to deliver research opportunities to our patients and clients by working with a skilled group of staff and clinicians.
The research assistant will have experience of working with people together with a robust understanding of academic and research processes. A creative problem solver with an ability to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders is essential.
We provide an opportunity to develop research skills through formal and experiential learning, supervision, mentoring and peer support.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction.
