Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our team at the Behavioural Science Group (BSG) at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care (DPHPC). The role holder will support research activities within the group, primarily on the NIHR-funded Programme on Adherence to Medication (PAM), directed by Professor Stephen Sutton.
Within the Programme, the role holder will contribute to a range of tasks including:
- Assisting with the delivery of an ongoing trial of an intervention to increase medication adherence in primary care.
- Providing administrative support to the study team to deliver trial procedures, as and when necessary.
- Arranging and conducting qualitative interviews with trial participants.
- Analysing data obtained from existing and future qualitative interviews and preparing summaries of study findings.
- Organising and analysing spreadsheets of quantitative data, cleaning data and presenting results.
- Delivering updates on research progress and findings at relevant meetings and conferences.
- Contributing to reporting results through writing up of research reports and manuscripts for publication.
You will be educated to degree level and preferably hold an MSc in Health Psychology or in a relevant scientific field or have equivalent research experience. You will be expected to work both independently and as a team member. You will possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills as well as a high level of computer literacy, along with strong organisational skills and a flexible approach to demanding situations. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft excel would be an advantage. You will also have a good understanding of qualitative and quantitative data analysis packages such as Nvivo and SPSS Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and of ethics and research governance would be an advantage, as would experience of primary care research. The role will require a Research Passport which will be applied for once an offer has been accepted.
