Job description
Fixed-term contract for 24 months, part-time 0.8 FTE.
The University of Warwick is seeking to appoint a researcher based at the Department of Psychology, as part of funding provided for the Big Baby 2 UP (BB2UP) study. The researcher will be working with Professor Dieter Wolke, the BB2up team and the wider DW Preterm Research Team. The Data Manager/Research Assistant will be joining a dynamic team of academics, postdocs, RA’s and PhD students working across several studies on the effects of early adversities on development from childhood into adulthood. The appointment is for 24 months at 0.8 FTE. However, there is some flexibility and appointments from 0.6 FTE (for a longer period) or full-time 1.0 (shorter period) would be considered. Please indicate 0.8; 1.0 or 0.6 FTE clearly in your application.
The research is on the effects of alternative obstetric approaches to dealing with big babies (anticipated birth weight >4500g) and the consequences on their development using experimental research (randomized controlled trial) and longitudinal studies conducted using data from birth cohorts and population based registries. The data manager will also be working on data sets of various studies that have assessed developmental outcome across the whole gestation range to determine the effects of being born large or small onto development into adulthood.
The successful candidate will be prepared to begin as soon as possible after 1 June 2023. All applications must be made online and accompanied by a CV and covering letter. References may be requested prior to shortlisting.
This post is a unique opportunity for someone with a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree with appropriate experience interested in research work or those returning to work. The post will be working within a research team and the RA is able to contribute to publications enhancing the researchers’ career.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
Interview date: Early May 2023.
