Job description
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Assistant, interested in therapeutic or vaccination strategies that involve the targeting of peptide epitopes restricted by HLA-E, especially in the field of cancer. You will join the team at Oxford Centre for Immuno-Oncology, at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be responsible for managing own academic research and administrative activities once initial training is satisfactorily completed, keeping daily records of work performed. You will ensure research is performed safely, legally and to the highest possible standards. You will adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and protocols as necessary. You will collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and represent the research group at internal meetings/seminars.
It is essential that you hold a degree (ideally 2.1 or higher) in the biological sciences. You will have a basic molecular biology technique including PCR, cloning and sequencing. You will have an experience in techniques used for protein expression and purification, plus the design of T cell immunoassays (e.g. ELISpot or flow-based assays). You will have excellent communication skills (oral/ written) and record keeping. Having experience of protein stability testing (e.g. thermal melt analysis) is desirable.
