Grade UoE06: £29,619 - £34,308 per annum

CMVM / Centre for Regenerative Medicine

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-term: until 31/03/2024

We are looking for highly talented researchers who will contribute to our continued achievement of excellence in research and have the opportunity to flourish in a high energy research environment. The successful candidate will provide assistance in a study to improve liver regeneration following stem cell transplant. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct original research relevant to the aims of the project, transfer SOPs and knowledge to fellow researchers of the group and produce material for publication.

The UK Regenerative Medicine Platform was established in 2013 to ensure that research addressing regenerative medicine connects seamlessly from discovery science through to clinical and commercial application. The three UKRMP interdisciplinary research hubs and associated UKRMP research network provide the critical mass and expertise to address the key knowledge-gaps in the translation of stem cell and regenerative biology towards application. Objectives include providing the novel tools, platform technologies and engineering solutions needed for therapeutic development.

The UKRMP Engineered Cell Environment Hub involves five partner universities: Birmingham, Cambridge, Edinburgh, KCL and UCL. There are 10 Principal Investigators and a funded research team.

The Opportunity:

To be part of a the research team of a major UK wide multi-partner regenerative medicine platform Hub led by the University of Edinburgh (Centre for Regenerative Medicine) in the area of the Engineered Cell Environment. At its core, UKRMP comprises several interdisciplinary and complementary research hubs that together provide a world-leading program to promote the development of regenerative therapies. These provide a cornerstone of the broader UK research strategy in this area, which is seeking to support high quality UK research activity and translational activity that will help deliver the great promise of regenerative medicine to the benefit of both patients and future economic growth.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A degree in cell biology, with relevant experience in maintaining and differentiating liver stem cells
  • Experience in cell based screening
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing
  • Proven track record of contribution to manuscript writing for publication
  • Expertise in relevant approaches and models, analytical techniques and method
