Full time, 35 hours per week

Fixed-term contract, 12 months with potential renewal

Anticipated start date 25 September 2023

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Julie Welburn, funded by Wellcome. The laboratory investigates fundamental mechanisms of the microtubule cytoskeleton, cell organization and division at the molecular level. The focus of our laboratory is to define the mechanisms by which cells separate their chromosomes and divide, and what routes can lead to genomic instability and cancer. Our laboratory uses cell biological, biochemical and structural approaches to understand how microtubule motors mediate accurate cell division and chromosome segregation.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and talented Biochemistry graduate to join our team investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying cell division. You will play a major role in the design and conduct of the research project and be trained in the relevant techniques. You should have, or will shortly obtain, B.Sc or Master degree in a relevant subject area (Biochemistry or Physics). Training can also be offered. An outstanding academic track record is essential.
