Full Time Contract - 35 hours per week

We are seeking a Research Assistant who will support the work of an experience postdoc, to bring to completion a very exciting project. The candidate needs to possess a degree in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related areas. The candidate will assist with culturing mouse embryonic stem cells , creating new cell lines by employing Cas9/CRISPR technology, performing fluorescent in situ hybridization ( FISH ), immunofluorescence, chromatin immunoprecipitation ( ChIP ) and cut&run , western blots, genotyping PCRs and creating new construct by both conventional and Gibson assembly cloning. Familiarity or a interest in programming and large data analysis is welcome. Both candidates with previous relevant experience or newly graduated candidates with a minimum of an high 2:1 degree and an interest in pursuing a PhD in the field of chromatin biology, epigenetics, nuclear organization and genomics in mouse embryonic stem cells are welcome. Flexibility, enthusiasm, dedication, teamwork, excellent organization and record keeping, and scientific understanding of the procedures carried on are essential features. Work will involve a range of technical support.

In addition, he/she will be responsible for the supervision of orders, lab stocks and organization of the spaces, ensure that equipment/apparatus/systems etc in own area are maintained, serviced, backed-up and repaired as required, including taking appropriate action to protect IT systems. Diagnose and rectify faults/problems with equipment and procedures. Monitor and maintain a safe working environment in accordance to Health & Safety procedures

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Previous experience with cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques is welcome.

  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, transparency and impeccable record keeping.
  • Previous experience with protein biochemistry is desirable.
  • Highly desirable previous experience in ChIP-seq data analysis and general programming (Python and R) abilities.
