Job description
Two positions are available for Research Assistants in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics to work on a project titled 'Wall-crossing: from classical algebraic geometry to differential geometry, mirror symmetry and derived algebraic geometry'. The successful applicant will join the ERC-funded team of Prof. Mark Gross for the first two years of their position.
Duties include undertaking basic research from start to finish using techniques in algebraic and logarithmic geometry. Other duties include assisting with ongoing research programmes, using databases, modelling, computation as appropriate; writing up results for publication; and presenting your work to colleagues at conferences or steering groups, both internally and externally. You may also be asked to assist in the supervision of student projects, and/or to provide supervision/instruction to classes or small groups of students.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of this area of study. The successful candidate will have a Masters' degree. Previous relevant research experience at this level is desirable but not essential.
