An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant to join the team at Peninsula Dental School, University of Plymouth (Main Campus). You will be responsible for carrying out a fixed term (18 months), collaborative laboratory project with Industry modelling the oral mucosa using a 3D cell culture system. A bachelor’s degree in biomedical science or related area is essential along with experience of routine cell culture and associated techniques such as media preparation. Practical experience of downstream assays such as ELISA, qPCR and histology would be highly desirable. You will need to perform specific in vitro experiments, troubleshooting and developing protocols where necessary. You will also be responsible for preparing, analysing & presenting data in both written and verbal formats and must have good time management, working to strict deadlines for deliverables. Good teamworking skills are also important as you will need to work well within a team of laboratory users and those working on related projects.


The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for a period of 18 months due to Funding.
