Job description
The Wells lab ( https://www.kcl.ac.uk/research/invasion-and-metastasis-research-group) have an opportunity for a Research Technician to join their Invasion and Metastasis Research Group at King’s College London. The post, which is a FTE fixed term contract for 6 months, will utilise pancreatic cancer organoids to monitor drug responses.
The position will build on the previous work from the lab and further the use of organoids for cellular responses. The project will characterise the viability of organoids in response to standard of care chemotherapy and novel agents. In parallel the project will seek to develop novel 3D organoid invasion assays.
The Post will be primarily based on the Guy’s Campus within the School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The candidate will work closely with the principal investigator Dr Claire Wells. The candidate will more broadly benefit from the interdisciplinary research, bespoke training, and academic networks at King’s College London.
The successful candidate must have a Bsc in biological/biomedical sciences and ideally some experience of working with organoid cultures.
This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 6 months
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent
Key responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- The day to day running of the project
- Conducting experiments, analysing data and presenting to the supervisor/s
- Supporting other members of the laboratory team

Skills, knowledge, and experience
1. A Bsc in a relevant area
2. Experience of working in a laboratory
1. To have an understanding of cell biology
2. To have an understanding of cancer biology
3. To have mammalian cell culture experience
4. To have research experience in the use of organoids
