Job description
OVERVIEW
Hendall Inc., is currently seeking a Research Assistant to join a project team supporting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality (CBHSQ).
In December 2016, the 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act) was signed into law and codified CBHSQ. CBHSQ conducts national surveys tracking population-level behavioral health issues. CBHSQ also provides statistical and analytical expertise; both activities support the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use and the Secretary of HHS. CBHSQ maintains several data collection systems and surveys on key topics in U.S. behavioral health. This position will support the Behavioral Health Services Information System (BHSIS), which collects information on the U.S. behavioral health treatment system and connects people with substance use and mental health treatment through the Behavioral Health Treatment Services Locator.
DUTIES
A successful candidate for the Research Assistant position will have experience within a collaborative team environment and be able to demonstrate focus and attention to detail. He/she will work with data collection, analysis, and dissemination teams to support the following activities:
- Organize meetings
- Create meeting agendas and capture meeting minutes/summaries
- Search peer-reviewed and other sources (e.g., SAMHSA and other key agency websites, conference proceedings) and organize/document findings for presentation
- Perform data cleaning, entry, and quality check
- Prepare data for input and processing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree (social sciences or public health field preferred)
- 1-5 years of related experience
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills
- Experience with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis
- Experience creating data visualizations in Excel, Tableau, or Visio
- Experience with Microsoft Teams or other webinar platforms
- Behavioral health background
