Job description

The successful applicant will contribute to the design, delivery and analysis of qualitative interviews and focus groups with Talking Therapies service users and professionals (clinicians, team managers, data analysts). They will be involved in the administration, recruitment, and organisation of the groups, acting as a first point of contact for the service users involved.

The post-holder will also contribute to scientific publications, as well writing reports and delivering presentations for wider staff.

Excellent communication and organisation skills are essential to this role. We expect the candidate to use personal initiative and critical thinking to offer innovative ideas, as well as working well collaboratively in a team.

The post-holder will work alongside the lead researcher for the project and will support all members of the project across several activities, particularly the qualitative elements. They will work with service users and staff members in various NHS settings and will also be required to assist with other activities, such as engagement and consultation with stakeholders and dissemination of research findings.

Research

  • Conduct comprehensive literature searches
  • Synthesise previous/current research evidence
  • To assist in the implementation of a research project.
  • To undertake recruitment, data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes
  • To organise and co-facilitate focus groups with service users, relatives/carers and health professionals.
  • Preparation of study materials, such as interview and focus group topic guides
  • Assist with preparation of applications for ethical approval and ethical amendments.
Governance
  • To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings, steering groups and other forums as appropriate.
Management
  • Set up systems to ensure efficient management of own workload, under the guidance of the Line Manager
  • Set up and manage databases if required
IT responsibilities
  • Utilise IT to support report writing, data input and analysis, and
  • Demonstrate compliance with Trust & University of Manchester policies on data usage and storage, including Health & Safety at Work
General
  • To undertake specific administrative duties as required
  • To perform other duties of a similar kind appropriate to the grade, which may be required from time to time
Working environment
  • Primarily Chorlton House
  • Required to comply fully with all Health & Safety Regulations in relation to maintaining safe working environment
