The new Department of Media, Culture and Creative Industries draws together academic staff specialising in Media and Communication; English, Publishing and Creative Writing; Information and Library Science; as well as Cultural and Creative Industries. We are seeking to appoint 5 part-time Research Assistants (0.6 FTE) to join a new project based in the Department of Media, Culture and Creative Industries. The “London Lab” of CIRCE is concerned with intersectional inequalities in the cultural and creative industries, and is part of a wider cross-European project concerned with the cultural sector, funded from Berlin by u-Institut GmbH https://creativeimpact.eu/en/. The project team includes Toby Bennett, Rosalind Gill, Jenny MBaye, Diana Yeh, Anubha Sarkar and Andy Pratt.
Responsibilities
The Research Assistants will undertake desk research to find, collate and organise relevant literature and secondary data sources; assist with the organisation of workshops, events and final conferences; conduct and report on empirical qualitative research with industry stakeholders; produce blogposts and other external communication materials; contribute to reports and working papers and co-author conference presentations or scholarly papers.
Person Specification
Candidates should possess a degree in a social science or humanities discipline with a research component (preferably also a Masters); background knowledge and interest in culture, media and creative industries; understanding of theories and challenges associated with diversity, representation, inequality and intersectionality; experience of conducting research; excellent verbal and written communication skills and familiarity with standard software packages.

These positions are part-time (0.6 FTE). The salary will be £36,386 per annum pro-rata.
