We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Assistant to lead our research efforts and support the science team to develop innovative solutions and in-house delivery of research projects against our 2030 goals.
You will work closely with our partners (charity, academic, clinical, community) to deliver research projects related to three of our 2030 Goals to provide support from day one, double employment, and change attitudes about autism and neurodiversity. These projects will deliver practical resources and evidence to support our 2030 goals. The key outcomes will subsequently help to guide Autistica’s and other organisation’s activities to providing the solutions that work to support autistic people to live happier, healthier, and longer lives.

Research development, delivery, reporting (65-80%)
- Design the surveys, data collection methods and reporting framework to deliver against pre-determined KPIs for the programme of work.
- Lead the research development and data collection.
- Ensure data hygiene and meticulous record keeping across sites and work packages.
- Conduct primary analysis across sites and work packages.
- Prepare research reports for key outcomes.
Managing the charity partners and governance (10-20%)
- Engage charity partners and stakeholders across sites.
- Report to governance steering group on project progress.
- Manage project finance and budgets, maintaining meticulous records and audit trails.
General responsibilities
- Employ theoretical knowledge to manage the research, work packages and outcome data of interest.
- Use reliable and robust statistical methods to reporting preliminary findings.
- Write up the project protocols and findings for dissemination in scientific journals, industry and community media and conference presentations.
- Ensure there is good communication within the science team and cross-team working with the communications, policy and fundraising teams.
- Build and maintain constructive collaborations and relationships with consortium partners and other organisations working in related areas.
- Work in collaboration with our internal comms and fundraising teams to translate research insights into impact reports, policy briefings, and funding proposals.

About the Role
The project will run for 22 months in the first instance until February 2025, with the aim of securing additional funding to develop a feasibility study and larger scale randomised controlled trial across different sites.
Salary: £30,000 per annum- Hours: 35 hour per week, Monday to Friday
- Location: Hybrid with 1 – 2 days in our London office each week
- Annual Leave: 28 days annual leave a year, exclusive of bank holidays.
- Professional development: As well as occasional all-staff training, you will have a personal training budget of £300 per year.
