R&D Technician
Latent Drive is seeking an R&D Technician who will be working with chemicals, electronics and physical prototyping. The job will include laboratory tests and prototyping new equipment for these tests, including mechanical, fluid flow and electronic components. As Latent Drive grows the role can grow with us, providing opportunity to shape and impact the company as well as develop unique experience in a fast-growing new industry.
If you have just finished an apprenticeship or college and have hobbies in rapid prototyping and technology or Alternatively you may have a lifetime's hands-on experience in engineering workshops we would love to hear from you.
Skills
We don’t necessarily expect applicants to possess all off the skills below but will be interested to hear from you if you are proficient in some and willing to learn others.
· Prototyping electronics - construction of control cabinets, sensors, wiring, connectors.
· Prototyping parts – using CAD, 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
· Workshop skills – using hand and power tools, mostly with plastics.
· Sourcing equipment and components
· Laboratory experiments, working in a consistent and methodical manner.
· Working with chemicals in the laboratory.
· Applying and initiating health and safety policies

We are a Dorset based company near to the southern coast 15 minutes’ drive from one of the UK’s most iconic coast lines. Based in the Dorset Innovation Park in a woodland park setting in the heart of the countryside whilst still being a hub for cutting edge technology. The Innovation Park is now being expanded with a major investment and building program by Dorset Council. Accessible from Wool railway station on the mainline to London Waterloo, Bournemouth, and Dorchester.
